OKN 6-Year Anniversary &
Launch of ‘Tongil Talk’

New Collaboration with
Pacific Media Asia (PMA)

Dear Friend,

This summer marks the sixth anniversary of the founding of One Korea Network (OKN). Over these six remarkable years, your steadfast support and deep commitment have enabled OKN to achieve significant impact on the international stage.

Some of the key accomplishments include:

  • Raising global awareness of election integrity issues in South Korea through high-profile press conferences at the National Press Club, events on Capitol Hill, Congressional briefings, and the widespread distribution of the Election Fraud Report;
  • Organizing a Congressional Luncheon and Briefing on the threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP);
  • Submitting North Korean defector testimony to Congress with the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission;
  • Sponsoring and participating in the inaugural International Religious Freedom Summit;
  • Leading the advocacy for genuine, responsible peace on the Korean Peninsula by exposing the shortcomings of “fake peace” initiatives, including HR 3446, HR 1369, and HR 1841;
  • Organizing and hosting the largest North Korean human rights conference in Honolulu, Hawaii in December 2023, which also drew one of the largest turnouts of any human rights conference in Hawaii;
  • Leading protests in front of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Washington, D.C., during the summer of 2024 to demand an end to the forced repatriation of North Korean refugees;
  • Sponsoring the participation of North Korean defectors based in South Korea in key United Nations forums on North Korean human rights, including sessions at the General Assembly and Security Council;
  • Hosting the first-ever theatrical performance in the U.S. Congress — the premiere of the powerful one-woman play by Sora Baek, Sell Me: I Am From North Korea;
  • Organizing the first official meeting between the Republic of Korea’s Ambassador for North Korean Human Rights and North Korean defectors resettled in the United States, held in both Washington, D.C., and New York;
  • Organizing and hosting a “Meet & Greet” event with the US Special Envoy for North Korean Human Rights and the local Korean-American community in the greater Washington, D.C. area;
  • Organizing and hosting the ‘Seoul Freedom Forum’ in February, 2024;
  • Supporting North Korean defector witnesses’ participation at the historic Trilateral Conference on North Korean human rights held at the US State Department in October, 2024;
  • Organizing and hosting first ever North Korean defector delegation visit to the Victims of Communism Museum in Washington, D.C.;
  • Hosting former DPRK Ambassador to Kuwait, Ryu Hyeon Woo on his first visit to the United States for a series of events and meetings, in early 2025;
  • Organizing and hosting multiple North Korean defector delegations from South Korea to the United States over the last six years, arranging high-level meetings with U.S. government officials, Members of Congress, churches, and universities, along with private advocacy sessions and meetings;
  • Hosting film screenings of the hit South Korean documentary, ‘The Birth of Korea’ in Virginia and other cities in the US;
  • Partnering with CPAC Korea for a multi-city tour series across the United States, featuring experts and speakers on South Korean current affairs.

These achievements represent only a portion of the impactful events and initiatives OKN has successfully led over the past six years.

Forthcoming Partnership & Launch of a New Media Platform:

One Korea Network is pleased to announce an upcoming partnership and collaboration with a dynamic new online media platform, Pacific Media Asia (PMA), which will launch in May.

As the name suggests, PMA will deliver news of the Pacific region to America and vice versa, news of America to the Pacific region. There will be timely, in-depth reporting that delivers truthful accounts of what is going on in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the broader Indo-Pacific region. And current and relevant American news will reach Asia so that, by sharing the truth, PMA will become a major media influence in an increasingly complex and fast-changing world.

Launch of the ‘Tongil Talk’ Project:

In fact, we are celebrating our anniversary with an up-and-coming event which we will share and host with PMA. We are proud to announce the launch later this month of a new flagship program: Tongil Talk. ‘Tongil’ is ‘unification’ in Korean, and this regular gathering will bring together like-minded individuals pasionate about the Korean Peninsula, featuring expert speakers, scholars, practitioners, and North Korean defectors who will share their unique insights and firsthand perspectives. A detailed newsletter announcing the inaugural Tongil Talk event will be sent to you shortly, and we will bring you further updates on the launch of Pacific Media Asia.

Looking ahead, we are confident that this sixth anniversary marks the beginning of an even more dynamic and influential chapter for One Korea Network. Through our partnership with Pacific Media Asia and the launch of the Tongil Talk series, we will continue to provide a platform that amplifies critical voices, advance awareness, and drive meaningful action on issues vital to the Korean Peninsula and Asia.

Thank you once again for your continued support and dedication. We deeply value your partnership as we work together toward a brighter and more secure future.

Please stay tuned for further updates on both Tongil Talk and Pacific Media Asia!

Sincerely,

One Korea Network
