One Korea Network (OKN)and the Korean Conservative Political Action Conference (KCPAC) participated in the annual Roll Call of Nations Wreath Laying Ceremony honoring the more than 100 million worldwide victims of communism, hosted by the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.
Held in-person for the first time since the COVID pandemic, the Ceremony remembers and honors the millions who died at the hands of this evil ideology. OKN and KCPAC represented the people of North Korea, who have been enslaved in the tyrannical, dictatorial Kim Family regime for more than seven decades. In addition, Henry Song, the Director of Government Relations at OKN, personally represented six South Korea-based North Korean defector and human rights organizations.
“The world must remember the people of North Korea who have suffered so much under the brutal dictatorship of the Kim Family Regime, and now under Kim Jong Un for the past decade. As one of the few remaining communist countries left in the world, we need to continue to remind the world of the suffering of the people inside the country, and how they are deprived of rights and freedom that we enjoy in the outside world,” said Arthur Lee, the DC Regional Director of OKN.
“We are humbled and honored to participate in-person, together with so many others, at today’s wreath-laying ceremony to remember and honor the victims of communism,” said Henry Song, Director of Government Relations at OKN. “And we stand in solidarity with the brave North Korean defectors and activists who are working to bring about change in their former homeland,” continued Song.
More than 16 embassies and 50 NGOs and organizations representing various communities which have been affected by communism, joined today to lay wreaths, and remember the victims.
“OKN and KCPAC remain steadfast in exposing socialism and communism, and to educate the public about the evils of this ideology that has and continues to enslave millions. We are grateful to the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation for their steadfast dedication and vision in their ‘pursuit of a world free from communism’,” said Grant Newsham, President of KCPAC.
Today’s event also included the awarding of the Dissident Human Rights Award to Russian opposition leader and anti-corruption activist, Alexei Navalny.
