[Opinion] Confusion over new K-quarantine measures

With the recent surge of the Omicron variant, the Moon Jae-in administration’s K-Quarantine is now showing its limitations. As one of Asia’s powerhouses on par with Japan, South Korea’s quarantine measures must be poorly operated since it is now showing tremendous inferiority to Japan’s J-Quarantine policy. Is it due to regional differences? Ethnic differences? Racial differences? The difference in national power? It’s not because of all this. It’s obviously due to the fluctuating policies and standards set by the Moon Jae-in administration.

Now that Moon Jae-in’s term is coming to an end, I believe it’s up to the Korean people whether the ghosts of the coronavirus which has plagued the entire nation and his administration, will step down along with his term. Or whether a more terrible plague will dominate the country and continue to descend the people into a more terrible abyss. The result of being out of it and overusing non-scientific and informal standards and statistics and measures that suit their taste is along the path of “being unsubstantiated.”

It’s exasperating to see how the Republic of Korea, an economic, military, scientific, and diplomatic powerhouse, fell into such desperation. A government that cannot protect its people should step down. Furthermore, if they don’t even comprehend what harm they’ve done to the nation and the people and pat themselves on the back for a job-well-done, this is just tragic.

The Republic of Korea is a sovereign, independent country. Nevertheless, they were unable to conduct their own research for a vaccine, develop a treatment, and epidemiological research, and have been forced to act as a low-level country that relies on foreign forces for all resources, statistics, and policies. In particular, various quarantine measures and statistics have increased confusion by arbitrarily applying foreign cases that do not meet the standards of the unique situation in Korea. The current state can be seen as equivalent to incapacitating the national quarantine system.

At this rate, if a war breaks out, it’s unimaginable how we would cope. All this happened because South Korea avoided actively cooperating with developed countries and continued diplomatic partnership with the culprit behind the pandemic. We must immediately cut ties and work in cooperation with the international community once more.
