Today marks the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War. The South Korean government, the media and the polemicists are all silent on the Korean War.
I would like to inform you of the 7 facts of the Korean War, which must be believed and practiced by every Korean citizen who enjoys freedom and abundance, and the 80 million compatriots who truly care for and love the nation.
First, the Korean War was a war to defend freedom against the illegal Invasion from the North for world communization by the Communist camp. The Korean War was never a civil war in which Koreans fought for unification between the two Koreas.
Second, it is the fact that the Republic of Korea won the war. North Korea set July 27th, Armistice Day, as the anniversary of its victory, and holds a massive victory celebration. We are silent as if we were defeated in the war. The Korean War was started by the Soviet Union, Communist China, and North Korea’s conspiracy to communize the Korean Peninsula, and we, along with the Free World, defended against the communization of the Korean Peninsula which was the goal of Communist camp and protected the free Republic of Korea. That is why it is a war that the Republic of Korea had won. A nationwide victory celebration should be held annually with our allies.
Third, the fact that it is a war that the soldiers fought well. Most of the Korean people, even some soldiers, know that the ROK military was crushed in the early days of the war and was protected by US and UN troops. That is not true. At that time, the ROK Army was suddenly attacked in a state of absolute inferiority with no tank or fighter and the odds were 3 to 1. However, as they were pushed down to the Nakdong River front, they fought fiercely sacrificing their lives with grenades and petrol bombs against the North Korean army’s tank, which they had never seen in their lives. Until the US and UN troops came, they fought well by establishing a line of defense at the Han River, Geum River and Nakdong River. We must admire, appreciate, honor, and reciprocate as much as we can.
Fourth, the fact that the topmost war criminals of the Korean War are Park Heon-young and Kim Il-Sung. Park Heon-yeong persuaded Kim Il-Sung to defect to the North and cross the 38th parallel, his Southern Workers’ Party comrades would be at the center of the people’s uprising, which would make it easier to take over the South. Encouraged by this, Kim Il-Sung went to Stalin to seek approval for the war, but Stalin opposed fearing US military intervention. Afterwards, Kim Il-sung and Park Heon-young went back to Stalin and begged him to approve the invasion from North Korea saying that the war can end before the US intervenes. In response, Stalin approved and supported the war under three conditions: to end the war quickly before the US military intervene, to propagate that the South attacked first and that this is in retaliation and visit Mao Zedong to get support from Chinese ground forces. Thus, Park Heon-young and Kim Il-sung were the top war criminals of the Korean War, which killed more than 3 million people, the largest number in history.
Fifth, the fact that it is the former Soviet Union and Communist China, not the United States, who are responsible for the division and the obstacles to unification. At the end of World War II, in the four-nation summit between US-UK-China-the Soviet Union, led by the US, it was agreed to make the Korean people as a single independent nation after the end of the war. However, just before the defeat of Imperial Japan, Stalin violated this agreement and sent Soviet troops to North Korea, drawing the 38th parallel line and making the first division. During the Korean War, when the ROK army advanced to the Yalu River along the Korea-Manchuria border, unification was imminent, but the Communist Chinese army intervened and failed to unify. Therefore, it is the view of the Republic of Korea that the former Soviet Union is responsible for the first division and Communist China is responsible for the second.
Sixth, is the fact that the Korean War is still ongoing and will only end when reunification is achieved. The only question remains is whether reunification is achieved through a free reunification under our South Korean system or a reunification under North Korean communism. We must achieve free reunification. This is because 80 million compatriots can live like human beings, and it is a way to repay the 200,000 ROK soldiers, 50,000 UN soldiers and millions of veterans, and to end the Korean War, the nation’s greatest tragedy, with a true victory.
Seventh, to achieve free reunification, it is necessary to establish a leader with a firm belief in the right party that aims for free reunification. Victory or defeat in the struggle for reunification between nations is not determined by eating better, living better, and enjoying more freedom. The nation that has a clear reunification goal and consistently pushes forward with the right unification ideas and unification policies supported by the people wins. It is up to the government. That is why we need the right political party and the right political leader.
That choice belongs to the Korean people, and it is also the choice of 80 million compatriots.
